1. Calories in Filipino Foods
The reading is about calorie-awareness. How to be healthy, and if not, its consequences. He explained thoroughly the meaning of calorie-awareness among us Filipinos. He also discussed what calorie is and how to maintain it balanced in our body. The writer also mentioned how to get your Total Calorie Requirement (TCR). He was telling us what specific food contained the specific amount of calorie. He was very specific in giving examples,like the size of the food and the amount of calories it contain. For example, 1/2 of an apple contains 40 calories. The writer gives the exact amount of calories in a specific food.

This writer is really health-conscious and wants to share his knowledge to his readers. What he tells are facts. Its really easier and fast to gain weight rather than to lose weight. And by starting being health-conscious let's know our calories.

2. Indian Food
The writer describes and inform readers all about Indian food. What it has in it, how to prepare it and where did it came from. The writer specifically differentiate North, South, West and East Indian food. He was able to tell readers that even inside India, there were still different cooking styles and techniques. The writer enumerate the ingredients needed in each place. Each place has a specific kind of spice and ingredients which distinguishes it from other places. Including the cooking style, each has really a variation and the writer concretely explain each place in India.

Positive connotations
1.There are beautiful beaches and backwaters, places of great historical interest, reflecting the region's varied colonial past, and an overall sense of contentment and well-being among the people.
2. Cochin has such an interesting range of sights due to its setting and history--variously controlled by the Indians, Portuguese, Dutch, English and back to the Indians.
3. The dancers have perfect control of all face and body muscles, and the make-up is striking and elaborate.
4. It was a lovely, idyllic place, and I felt a bit like Gauguin arriving in Tahiti.
5. Keralan cuisine is one of the world's great culinary secrets.


Negative Connotations
1. The entertainment industry is fluffy and flimsy. 
2. The mildest thing one would want to say about this horrid dry pink innovation, which sweated under the grill and fell to bits under the knife, was that it was less than a sausage. 
3. There is a word that usefully captures this trend to the insipid and denatured, and it is "Lite."
4. If the opposite of Lite is all these things -- pungent, complex, characterful, without concession, food for men -- then this reflects back and throws more light on what Lite is.
5.  He is ignorant, timid, squeamish, and childish.
